Post help
my symptoms are decreased stream, dribbling at end of urination, decreased sex drive, softer erections, when it is really bad it is harder to have a bowel movement; feels like i can't empty my bowels. Does anyone have similar symptoms? It seems that most peoples symptoms come and go but mine are the same every day. Also many people talk about this horrible prostate pain which i do not have. Iv'e never felt in "pain" just discomfort. Does this sound like a pelvic floor issue to anyone and has anyone had success treating the pelvic floor

Ive seen a couple primary care doctors and about 4 urologists. They basically have nothing to offer except antibiotics, flomax and drugs like cialis.

Wcm, do you typically have trouble with constipation, or only when your prostate symptoms flare?

Inflamed kindve hard to explain. Before this started i would just have a bowel movement whenever i felt like it but now i usually can only go shortly after i wake up and no other time. Maybe this is when my body is most relaxed im not sure. Straining and incomplete bowel movements get worse when prostate symptoms flare. Going to the gym helps and i find the morning after drinking alcohol bowel movements are easier.

I read that if you have constipation, you should drink a couple of glasses of water in the morning right after you wake up, about 30-45 minutes before breakfast. Not sure if it would help, but it probably couldn't hurt.

There are many things that can help. This is one of them. If you want more ideas, just ask.

I think the reason why I am most frustrated is because I literally got these symptoms over night. I don't understand how its possible to go from being a happy, healthy, carefree 21 year old to this out of the blue. I didn't have unprotected sex leading up to these symptoms and never had an infection or std so I am pretty floored as to why these symptoms started out of the blue.

That sounds like an unusual case, sorry to hear your going through it.

Look I'd always been healthy until I turned 28, then I fell apart out the blue with an unusual disease I'm still struggling to deal with, it is a pretty common experience. Sickness can happen to anybody.

Could be worth finding a pelvic floor physiotherapist to see what they think. It may be one of those things that pass with time. Keeping fluid intake fairly high and eating apples is good for the bowels, looking on an IBS forum would give you more info on that. Could be worth focusing on healthy eating. I wrote about this here. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1421. It's good that you don't get the pain, that is the worst part.

There are many on this board that never had unprotected sex. This is a little understood disease. It is not considered an STD by the doctors.

My prostatitis isn't STD related.

I just think its strange how abrubtly it started. Most cases that start quick out of nowhere seem to be pinpointed to a sexual encounter or something of that nature. In any case i think ill see a pelvic floor doctor and post back my experience with that

Post Re: help
and how did your symptoms start??
I woke up with a stabbing baldder pain one morning and since then i'm having the issues, altho sometimes its better, sometimes worse... stress/sitting are a huge factor for me. I am 99% sure my condition is pelvic floor related.. I'm just too lazy to start excercising and losening the muscles lol. I have no urinary frequency, urgency or weak stream... only sometimes it hurts after voiding - not during that tho.

Post Re: help
My symptoms started one night with very frequent urination and weak stream. Was getting up out of bed the whole night to pee snd thought maybe it was a uti. Went to the doc on my college campus and urine analysis was clear, no uti, urine culture was clear and when she did the prostate exam i didnt even feel any pain (although she said it was boggy). But yea had no pain upon urination or ejaculation either which further confuses me as to what this could be
