Can prostatitis pain be this bad? I need to know what exactly is wrong with me. I have severe pain that comes on as the day goes by. No other symptoms. Normal pain killers don't make a difference. I resort to using a small does of Ultracet most days.

Question:

Is it possible to have prostatitis with severe pain this bad WITHOUT any of the following symptoms?

Pain or burning sensation when urinating (dysuria)
Urgent need to urinate.
Cloudy urine.
Blood in the urine.

I don't have cancer, it was biopsied during a TURP operation a month ago.

Thanks Joe. My pain is between my scrotum and my anus, up inside me about 1-1.5 inches from the surface or so. Very localized but sometimes cpreads to base of my penis. Does that sound right? Like prostatitis? Or does it sound like "Pelvic Floor Dysfunction" Do you know?

That is the prostate. I urge you to see a prostatitis specialist as soon as possible. Most urologists are not prostatitis specialists - if they are adherents of the nonbacterial prostatitis school of thought you may end up wasting precious time. If it is bacterial prostatitis you want to get it treated with massage and antibiotics ASAP before the bacteria get thoroughly armored up with biofilms. I will add that my bacterial prostatitis started exactly like this.

About 70% of prostatitis is bacterial. See: http://prostatitis.org/redirect.php?lin ... facts.org/

Hey Joe, many thanks.

I just read that, and it was seemingly very well reasoned. But now I am more confused than ever after reading so many convincing counter-info to that. Who wrote it? Do you know? I tried googling the "Bacterial Prostatitis Collective" and came up with nothing. There are no prostatitis specialists where I live, in Bali, Indonesia. I need to take action now, by partially self diagnosing. Is there anything more you can tell me? My prostatitis started - I think - about 6 months ago, hardly noticeable. Then, 2-3 weeks after a TURP surgery 1.5 months ago, it got much worse. Please advise,......thanks....

Sounds to me like you've had a prostate infection for a while, probably even before those 6 months. It is not unlikely that a small grade infection caused your BPH which I assume is what indicated your TURP.

By performing a TURP on infected tissue, it is likely to become worse according to Dr Shoskes and common sense. Your best chance to get an answer or relief, is simply to have someone prescribing ciprofloxacin to you for many weeks.

If you get relief, you will probably know its infectious.

It's interesting that with Goran's symptoms, he also had infected tissue at the time of surgery but his went very well. I guess you go in with a 50/50 chance of getting better or staying same/getting worse.
