Post subject:  Fasting is healing me

I posted here a while back regarding fasting for treatment. I have now completed multiple fasts (48 hours- just under a week), and I am about 50% improved. I am completely off all my sleeping pills that I have been on for 8 years due to the nocturia. I have been diagnosed with both Prostatitis and Interstitial Cystitis. Before I was waking up every 30 minutes without my sleeping pills to go pee, and by the 3rd or 4th time I couldn’t fall back asleep. Now I wake up 3-4 times in 8 hours without sleeping pills, which is far more manageable. Still not ideal, but I have improved about 50%. No doubt that I will completely heal with more fasting.

For those that are skeptical of fasting, there is a lot of research into it. There is no profit in fasting, which is why doctors and the medical community do not know about it that well. There is a fasting centre in the USA with doctors dedicated to healing people, and they provide supervised water fasts from 5-40 days. They have even a proven cancer patient that improved 50% within 2 weeks of fasting. Proven medical imagining tests. There are thousands of testimonials of people’s success on fasting, healing many conditions.

The body goes into a state of autophagy when fasting, which means your sick, dead, inflamed, infected cells literally get eaten by your body. When you are constantly digesting food, that takes up 80% of your body’s resources, which leaves no time for healing. There are multiple aspects of how fasting works.

I recommend it for anybody that wants to try. What has also helped me is ozone, herbs and vitamin c, especially following or during a fast, as they will be more effective during that time. Though I did not always use them when fasting, by far the fasting alone can heal.

Can you please tell us what was exactly your fasting regimen?

Just drink water :) how long you fast is up to you. But to see any benefit from a chronic illness generally 48 hours minimum are needed I have found. The longer you fast, the higher the benefit. If you keep resetting, like me, it will take longer to reach the same benefit as if you kept going. As the longer you go, the deeper your body goes into cleansing, there are different stages your body goes through during a fast. When you stop and start, your body has to start all over again. Many people have cured chronic illness completely with a 3 day to one week fast. Others have had to go 30-40 days. It depends how severe the illness is. But my method I still have improved 50%. For a long term fast I recommend going to a fasting centre. I have seen people comment Prostatitis cures with 3 days- one week fasting. Fasting will work, it is basically just a matter of how long you do it.

But I mean, how do you do it exactly? Every week you fast two days? How many times have you repeated the 2 days fasting? How often?

I haven’t always been doing it the same, pretty random days. Though in April is when I saw the significant improvement because I basically fasted on and off for 2 weeks. And the days I ate, sometimes I only had one small meal at the end of the day. I haven’t kept track of exactly how many times I have fasted so it is hard to say, but I would estimate 10+ times. I am planning on going away for a 1 week straight fast soon. Will update my progress when I am down to not waking up at all!

I only have tried one day only eating fruits and raw vegetables and still is hard. 24 hours of fasting would be too hard, I can't imagine 48 hours. I would try it if it was not for I'm very prone to anxiety and feeling weakened gives me a lot of anxiety.

Fair enough. To each their own. Though I was the same as you when I first tried it. Couldn’t fathom the idea when a friend with IC recommended it to me. I said no way I could never do that. But it becomes a last resort and ultimately works. It’s really mind over matter. And you get used to it. What helps me get through it is learning about Buddhism. Lose your attachment to food, to needing to be healthy, to the outcome of the fast, and you will relax more and be able to get through it longer. Your not meant to be too active when fasting so take it easy of course.

From what I read in passing, fasting has a number of very positive effects on the body. Normalizing gut flora over time, while boosting stem cells as well.

Intermittent fasting is very helpful. The plan is to eat only during an eight hour period each day.

Combine that with a low sugar diet (5 grams of sugar, or under per day) plus fermented foods and probiotics (no kefir, no dairy, no red meat), and moderate cardio 3-5x per week. Lots of poultry and fish as well. The body will take care of the rest and you'll get better over time.

Yes I agree, intermittent fasting combined with the right diet can heal over time. However the problem with that, or rather the benefit straight fasting has over intermittent fasting is speed of healing and the depth of the healing. The body cannot go into a state of autophagy with intermittent fasting. That requires 24+ hours. The body creates new white blood cells and stem cells when prolonged fasting and refeeding after the long fast. During autophagy, the body cleans out the entire system, eating dead cells, slow cells, sick cells, old cells, inflamed and infected tissue, scar tissue and white blood cells that aren’t operating effectively. Without being in a state of autophagy, the body will not create new cells afterwards as the same sick cells are there.

However, what intermittent fasting will do is allow the current body’s immune system more time for healing during the day. When the body is always digesting food, there is quite literally no resources to heal oneself. That’s partly why intermittent fasting works so well, because over time, the body can heal itself with the current immune system. It is much slower than straight fasting, taking anywhere from months to years, and sometimes not completely healing. Prolonged fasting is much quicker, more thorough and better results. Also the issue with a long treatment plan is people don’t stick to it, especially if they’re not getting results fast enough.

With prolonged fasting you get fast results, and it is a better option for some that are just too sick to have the energy and motivation to stick with a long, extensive and sometimes heavily involved plan with extremely strict diets. They definitely do work, especially in combination with intermittent fasting, but again it can take quite a bit longer.

For sure, water fasting is the best way to rapid results. I saw big changes after a 3 day water fast. I had a lot more energy, and my mind was super clear. Didn't effect prostatitis much, but I'm sure that if I did it consistently, it probably would have.

I read that autophagy kicks in around the 16 hour mark. Thinking about it though, I'd bet it's always in effect to some extent after food is digested. It probably isn't detectable until 16, or 24 hours though, because maybe it builds up? That's probably why intermittent fasting works but it takes longer like you said.

I did several fasts leading up to the big fast and then did intermittent fasting, more like one meal a day fasting, in between the water fasting, with no period of eating the whole day for 2 weeks. So fasting builds up. It depends how long you’ve had it and how bad it is. Some see results quick, some take a few times of fasting. You will get results it’s just a matter of time. The studies I’ve read shows it takes 24+ hours to get into autophagy. After 16 hours you may go into Ketosis. Which is when the body uses fat as energy instead of glucose, but autophagy happens only when the body thinks it won’t get food anytime soon, so it starts eating dead cells, cells that aren’t functioning properly etc, for energy resources. I’ve had a couple acute medical issues, that aren’t prostatitis and I started fasting right away and within 24-36 hours I started seeing 10-25% improvement each time I fasted that amount. If you fast right when you get sick it is very rapid healing. No medicine was working as fast as fasting. So it does depend how long you’ve been sick. Even antibiotics can work slower in an acute infection situation than fasting does. I am not saying people shouldn’t take antibiotics but it is incredible the power of fasting. There are different stages to the fasting, even after you go into autophagy, the longer you fast, the deeper your body goes into cleansing mode. So stopping and starting is restarting the process over and over again, which won’t be as effective as one straight, long fast.

Took your advice man, I have been trying to get at least 30 hours autophagy per week and my prostate seems to be getting better, surprisingly. I've also been trying to follow the anti-candida diet as well. Will keep going, but the results have been very encouraging.

Sorry for late response man just saw this. Awesome to see you got results from it. Have you continued? I haven’t been able to do another long fast since my original one. Will be doing a 5 day long fast within a month if all goes according to plan. Fasting works wonders just have to keep at it and do longer fasts for more results.

It's interesting to see how long one can go, Jesus reportedly did 40 days. Probably a factor in how he was able to power through all the brutality of everything that happened afterwards.

Nice man, keep it up! I haven’t been able to do another long one yet. I am going to book 5 days away from home to fast. Difficult to fast when there are so many distractions and food temptations at home. I’ve seen so many people heal themselves of almost everything with water fasting, but really do need to go long enough to completely heal. I’d encourage most people with Prostatitis to do at minimum 5-7 day water fast. It’s very inspiring to see how this can heal so many things.
