Post What is the good Cipro dosage?
I’ve been prescribed Cipro 500 mg 1/day and it hasn’t been working. I saw some websites listing the dosage as 500 mg 2/day, and am wondering if my dosage is too low.

I would greatly appreciate feedback from anyone who has been prescribed Cipro as well.

Thanks.

My suggestion would be to first do some research on the dangers associated with Cipro and the other fluoroquinolone antibiotics. After you do that you might decide to ask your Dr for something less toxic.I would include a link but last I was aware we were not permitted to do that. I’ve taken it in the past and wish now I had known beforehand. So I can’t recommend a dosage because I do not think the risk is worth it.

The correct dosage is 2x 500mg of Cipro per day taking each tablet 12 hours apart.

The last urologist I saw said he prescribes it for 3 months to treat difficult prostatitis cases. But often it's prescribed for just 4 weeks, depending on the history of your case.

Remember, if your symptoms go away, you still have to keep taking it for at least 1 or 2 weeks so it kills the remaining bacteria.

Personally I never had a problem with Cipro. Some people have a bad reaction to it but the majority are fine. If you do have a bad reaction though, I heard it can be pretty bad.

Regards
Simon
