Post Help Combining Supplements for prostatitis
My husband has suspected chronic prostatitis + a urether infection going on/ + unrelated digestive issues - ulcers in duodenum/hiatus hernia/gastritis/ possibly recurrence of HP bacteria as well.Age 37. Has been sufferring severe on going hip/pelvic pain, seems to be relieved a little by warming massage. Has pain in upper legs/ burning inside urether and a nagging pain down there as well which means he is constantly uncomfortable and restless. Has trouble sitting/driving. Suffers anxiety/low mood/ difficulty sleeping. Was diagnosed with low vit D at level 13 /now up to 36 in a few months and joint pain is gone. Been prescribed endless antibiotics, without results.I'm keen to get him off anti biotics and desperate to avoid him starting yet another course. I have all of these and am trying to come up with a treatment plan/best way to combine without him feeling totally overloaded:

just bought acidophillus - best on empty stomach
just bought quercitin - best on empty stomach

so thinking to start the day with these /twice a day

mastic gum - he currently takes 1 every morning ( feels irritated if takes at night).....good thing is that it cuts down the number of times he feels the need to take omoprazole.

we have Natural Calm magnesium which I was trying to get him to take twice a day, but thinking maybe to give this at night time instead.

we have krill oil capsules and not sure whether to continue alongside everything else( with meals/?)

I have bought turmeric capsules - to take after /or with meals?

I have bought black strap molasses - thinking 3 times weekly with warm milk

I have bought Native remedies UTI Clear + Prostate Doctor - not sure whether to add those in first thing in the morning along side quercitin + acidophillus or whether this is all going to be too much.

Also bought kokora mens cream.

What I need help with is where to start and how to dose - the issue right now is a pain issue ( inside urether is the main pain + hips). I'm keen to start acidophillus straight away to start putting back some good bacteria, but don't know where/how to start really with all the rest.

We have been to doctor + urologist but all they do is prescribe anti biotics and they have no effect whatsoever. He did have a DRE and urologist said felt normal, though he did not mention to the urologist at the time that it did feel painful + burning when examined - doctor said burning + pain probably caused by piles and that it was normal and will settle - it has got a little better with time. Doctor says prostatitis would cause severe sharp pain - he does have pain and it can get really bad and has been on going for a few years, but he only went off to urologist recently due to burning in urether - could be linked ( we think) with prostatitis.

Had a scan - urologist said normal apart from what he described as a "flip" shape on prostate, but said nothing to be concerned about an dif he wants he can have cytoscopy - he gets very anxious so keen to steer clear of that for now and see if we can try to approach this from the angle that it is probably chronic prostatitis and see if any natural supplements may help to put things right.

Any input will be much appreciated, thank you.

forgot to add- the pain is particularly in the left pelvic/hip area - sharp/ severe at present/otherwise just always a nagging pain that doesn't tend to go away.

have also bought selenium + zinc, thinking of starting as follows:

acidophillus+ quercetin on empty stomach first thing, + mastic gum ( for stomach related issues)

turmeric ( no omporazole or ibuprofen while on turmeric) + krill oil after food x 2

black strap molasses in warm goats milk three times weekly or more

thinking to try this for 2 weeks ( or on alternate weeks) and then :

acidophillus + Native Remedies uti + Native Remedies Prostate Doctor + mastic gum, on empty stomach first thing

then selenium + zinc + krill oil after food x 2

then magnesium late evening

+ black strap molasses three times weekly or more

Does this sound feasible? Are we over loading? Have we missed something?

thanks.

You have written, "but he only went off to urologist recently due to burning in urether - could be linked ( we think) with prostatitis."
That is a very common complaint of prostatitis patients. You are probably right to assume that.

You expressed this fear of a cystoscopy. Forget that fear. They are nothing to fear and I speak from experience. I would fear more to go on not knowing if there are strictures in the urethra or Hunnington's Ulcer or cystitis or cancer in the bladder.

Selenium has been tried in clinical trials and not found effective in preventing cancer. I question if it is effective in prostatitis.

Not a physician but plenty experience

Thank you for the response. Will encourage him in that case, slowly, towards cytoscopy - just for now he remains over anxious.

There seems to be an awful lot going on with him and we're having trouble breaking it all down.

He presently has severe hip pain - but he's had lower back and hip pain for years,, and he complains that the pain sometimes travels and moves - it's on the left side.

Also pain in upper thighs and pelvic region generally.

Goes to the loo more often - but it seems this is increased mainly when anxious.

Has some problem with 2 discs lower spine and that make sit harder to figure out. Trouble sitting for long periods/troubl;e driving due to nagging pain in pelvic region and lower back.

Will have MRI scan soon - doctor is referring him for scan + hip specialist. We're hoping that may show up any problems.

Blood sugar levels are up, though he's never tested positive for diabetes.
Can't give him the black strap molasses.

He's been running a slight temperature at night recently /hot feet/ and generally feels exhausted and wondering is this is an after effetc of 2 rounds of anti biotics one after another. He has another round to go - it's a 30 day course of some tablet /can't recall the name....but one of the implications of taking it is that you have to avoid sun exposure. I'm putting him off taking it for now as I feel he's been on way too many anti biotics - we're trying turmeric supplent for now and will build it up slowly, along side acidophillus.
Leaving quercetin out for now - though he took it for a few days and seemed a little better at first., then went down hill again.

I think he's worried sick about prostate cancer.
A family member has stage 4, age 40, and it's metastasied and got to 90% of his body, with him now being paralysed. He has all the same symptoms , though it could of course be due to so many different things- we know that. Part of the problem right now is delaing with the anxiety levels - can anxiety cause all this? These are the current symptoms:

burning inside urether, and sometimes going back to the anus / has piles so sometimes not sure what's causing burning; have bought a sulfur based cream by Dr.Jacobs - waiting for that to arrive
pain in penis / and in anus ( has recently diagnised varicocele as well)
was diagnosed with an infection which doctor said is commonly transmitted from the skin; comeplted 2 rounds anti biotics/ no results
pelvic pain constant/nagging/ uncomfortable/unable to sit or stand long periods
pain in upper thighs
pain in lower legs - but we think muscle related/ extremely tight hamstrings

additionally, unrelated, has duodenal ulcers/ gastritis/ hiatus hernia

Supplementing is a nightmare as he can get bloated so it feels like we can never quite achieve the right doseage of anything or get results if he can't manage a certain tablet. Black strap molasses are out given that sugar levels are getting high.

Has difficulty sleeping - over anxious/ + of course physical pain going on as well. Very worried about "flip shape" on prostate.

Not sure how to supplement for best effect - starting on limited supplements and lower doseage.....right now
2 mastic gum
occasional omoprozole ( will stop while on turmeric)
1 x 550mg turmeric with ginger root added / 1 or 2 x acidophillus
1 x selenium with zinc

occasionally magnesium.

Thank you.
