Post Trouble Sitting
Anyone found the perfect cushion to prevent pain while sitting due to prostatitis/CPPS? That's by far my biggest challenge. To date I have tried an air rubber inflatable donut that used to do the trick for many years, but now even that doesn't work if you need to sit for several hours at a desk job. Somehow I think sitting on an air cushion is the best that's out there, but you tend to wobble a lot, and again it doesn't relieve the pain after extended sitting. Standing works to a point but is very tiring. I've tried some of the contoured memory foam seats for CPPS, and related injuries, but they aren't padded/thick enough. Trying a thicker memory foam cushion as we speak, but not sure it's gonna work. Anyone found an ideal cost effective ($40 or less) solution to this agonizing problem?

Rocky, there’s a memory foam cushion on Amazon that’s fairly thick. I tried it and although it’s more comfortable at first I don’t think long term it will be as good as the donut. It sells between $35-40 I think. I’ve tried hundreds of dollars worth of cushions and always end up back on the donut. Think the main thing is not to sit for extended periods. Get up, move around etc.

Thx Madcap. My latest memory foam cushion also failed to stop the pain. It's comforting to know that the embarassing air donut is the best choice, so I can stop spending more money on other products that don't work. I used to be able to sit on the donut for hours but not any more. Someone has got to develop a better cushion that makes minimal contact with one's perineum.

Rocky, I've several cushion - sitting is always a probelm. The best in my opinion is the G-seat ultra. This is a jelly cushion but quite expensive. Jelly could also be a problem in planes/security. Never used it during a flight.

Thx, I might just give it a try. I hate to spend $187.60 CAD though. It doesn't look very thick. Does it provide adequate cushioning for the sensitive prostate/perineum area lol? I assume it's gel and not memory foam?

Rocky I have the G seat. At first I liked it, but you’re correct about it not being very thick. I believe it works for some people but it ended up not working for me.

Hello, I am new to the group. I developed prostatitis earlier this year for the first time and it started coming back a week ago. May I please ask for a recommendation for a seat cushion? I see some recommended the GSeat Ultra. I could get that but it seems some people report it is not thick enough. And others recommended a donut shaped cushion. Is there a good brand/model for a thicker donut shaped cushion? Thank you very much for your help.

Elliot, Amazon sells a cheap donut cushion. I used them for many years. You might want to try that first so you don’t waste your money. Some people find the rubber donut seats uncomfortable but you won’t be out much if it doesn’t work for you. If it doesn’t help you then you can move up into the more expensive ones.

Thank you very much for your reply. I will follow your recommendation. Do you have the brand/model for your Amazon purchase or ISIN number? I found the #1 best seller is made by Ergonomic Innovations and it foam (memory foam). It is called the Donut Tailbone Pillow for $38.85.

And one more question for you. I have an upcoming 12 hour road trip. The donut will be too high for use in my car. I read you also used the GSeat Ultra, which is thinner. Did you ever use that one in the car or did you just stop using it altogether because the donut worked better? Thank you again for your help.

Elliot, the one I used for years is 17.99 at Amazon. It’s called Carex inflatable donut cushion. You have to inflate it but you can decide how soft or firm you want it. It’s made from rubber so it isn’t like the memory foam cushions. I don’t use it now because I switched to the Lisenwood donut pillow. It’s a memory foam cushion and sells for 24.95 at Amazon. If I were you and going on a long trip I would take 2 different cushions so I could switch back and forth in case one gets uncomfortable. It’s really a personal choice as to what works for you.
