Post Amitryptiline
my doc is out of answers.

He just prescribed me 25 mg Amitryptiline, plus 600 mg Gabapentin.

Recently I had a pudendal nerve block which did nothing. MRI showed nothing.

Anyone out there try Amitryptiline?

Post Re: Amitryptiline
I have. Sorry to say but it didn't help me at all. I've been on the following over the last 2 years:

Amitriptyline - 1 month
Gabapentin - 1 month
Duloxetine - 1 month
Tamsulosin - 2 months
Finasteride - 2 months
Tramadol - a year and still on it.

Of those only Tramadol as a pain killer does anything. Don't let your doc give you Duloxetine. I was OK whilst on it, but horrendous withdrawals afterwards. I was getting what I can only describe a 'brain flashes'. Really not a nice experience.

I've had a Ganglion Impar block and that did nothing either. I was hoping a Pudendal Nerve block would help. Oh well.

thanks for the reply. Oh and I also tried Lyrica, hungover all day, no pain relief.

I do take Tramadol and it does help a bit, would like to get off it because it has done a number on my gut motility.

I have just about lost any hope.

I may try Kratom but I'm very apprehensive about it.

Race, have you tried Kava? If I asked you before my apologies. Can’t remember if you have.

I tried Kava quite a while ago, it's was around the time I had surgery and I only took it a few times.

Do you recommend it? What is the best way to take it? I had gel caps or oil caps I think...

Race, kava like all supplements is pretty much dependent on the supplier. As we can’t post links I’ll pm you. I suggest you check out the options and see what you think might be worth trying. There are many different varieties so choosing the right one will give you a better chance to see results.

I never got pain relief with amitriptyline, but it helped with sleep. However, if I try to stop taking it now I get withdrawal symptoms.

I agree kava could help.

Yeah I take it every night for sleep as an extra concentrated tincture. But I found it only works well for sleep when combined with other herbs like lemon balm, skullcap, passion flower and others. It does make me sleep by itself, but not stay asleep. It does nothing for pain as far as I'm concerned.
