At a press conference at the AUA Annual Meeting in San Francisco Dr. Richard Alexander summed up the results of the clinical trials done by the eleven research centers in the CPCRN (Chronic Prostatitis Collaborative Research Network)
They compared the two most commonly used treatments against a placebo. They found neither Ciprofloxin or Tamsulosin reduced substantially the symptoms of CP (chronis prostatitis)/CPPS (chronic pelvic pain syndrome) after six weeks of therapy in men with moderate to severe symptoms of long duration and with many previous treatments.
P. S. notice he did not say newly diagnosed patients. There was much discussion that the medicines might have been effective in newly diagnosed patients or perhaps the medicines might have been more effective if used six months.
