Post Coagulase Negative Staph and EPS versus semen cutlure
Hello All,

I'm wondering if anyone has done research on, or had a diagnosis of, Coagulase Negative Staph from semen or EPS? I had a positive culture for it from my semen. Some reading says it is most likely just a contaminant (normal skin flora contamination). So several questions for anyone reading this:

1) from what you've learned/read, is Coagulase Neg Staph something that is normally treated or is it just considered a contaminant?
2) one paper said that since Coag Neg Statph is often a contaminant, a second culture should be done to confirm before starting antibiotics. If we did another culture to confirm, would EPS culture be a better way to obtain a sample with less likelihood of contamination (no hand used to masturbate)?
3) is there any consensus on whether there is a "normal flora" in the urinary tract or prostate (as in the mouth, gut, etc)? Or is any bacteria cultured from the urine/prostate fluid considered infection?

Any info/knowledge appreciated.
