Post subject:  Bacterial DNA testing

I have come across this phrase and people mentioning this test online, I cannot seem to find much information on.

Can someone please enlighten me with more information? Is it more accurate then a urine culture for example?

Has anyone had this in the UK, as its not been mentioned as an option by urologist.

Thanks in advance.

Dna labs are usually private and not covered by health plans. It is suppose to be more accurate than a NAAT tests and much more accurate than cultures which can be unreliable.
Dna tests pick up parts of the dna of the tested bacteria and can still pick up parts of the dna up to 3 months after cure as the body flushes it out of system. Once you complete treatment you should wait a few months to ensure you dont have a false positive.
Some bacteria are very difficult to near impossible to culture (myco, ureaplasma)...
Thats about all i know from my doctors, research and experience.
I sure others can share more...
