Post My prostatitis story
Just sharing....trying to be as concise as I can.

Diagnosed originally in late 1999. 36 years old. Initial symptoms were pressure in the penis (felt like air was pumped into my penis). Second symptom was AWFUL testicular heaviness. Felt like a 5lb weight was attached to my testicles via a string. 3rd symptom was like a lit cigar on my backside. Long story short, put on antibiotics for 12 weeks. Nothing. No let up. First prostate drainage I saw my urologist roll his eyes with the amount of fluid that came out (I knew then I was in trouble). Standard treatment was antibiotics, drainage, muscle relaxers. No urinary issues whatsoever.

My symptoms continued unabated for 2.5 years. Everything went into the tank. Work, family, social life. After 30 straight months of everyday misery...I saw a gradual relief over the course of 6 months. I don't think the 2 doctors I saw did a damn thing to help me. They tried. I have no doubt. My symptoms simply did not abate. Anything thrown at this disease was flicked off like a gnat on an elephant. ProstaQ, cranberry, herbal remedies, drainage, abx, you name it. I believe I also got a shot of something by my 2nd Doctor.

Finally after 3 years of fighting this everyday...I could say I feel good.

2006. Diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. Surgery, resection of bowel. 6 months chemo. 30 straight days radiation. I was on the bathroom floor with every conceivable fluid coming out of me in sickness. Don't get me wrong, cancer is serious, dangerous, life threatening...I considered this battle MUCH easier than prostatitis. Prostatitis is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. It's is capital M MISERY. Some may disagree with my assessment of cancer vs. prostatitis. Understandable. For me, prostatitis is the single worst thing to hit me. I had a light at the end of the tunnel with cancer and treatment. Prostatitis offered no light.

I had a reoccurrence of prostatitis twice. 2008 and 2011. Both times it only lasted about 2 weeks before symptoms abated and I was better. Here we are in 2017 and another bout has surfaced. It's been 10 days. I'm on antibiotics. Hoping it clears up. Maybe there are new treatments 17 years later....don't know. Really just hoping this gets better over the next week.

The single worst most debilitating symptom is testicular heaviness. It just wrecks me.

There are more details from my original bout about waxing and waning symptoms, things I can no longer remember. Bottom line, My heart goes out to anyone battling this sickening disease. It is HORRIFIC on every level. Poorly understood disease and seemingly poorly treated. The debilitating aspect is 100% life encompassing. Every moment is focused on not feeling well.

Hope I didn't bore you. Losing your physical and mental health over a disease like this is something only those who have gone thru can relate to. Oh, I'm sure the urologist is sympathetic. He's trying. He doesn't know the misery unless he's gone thru it. No one does.

Yes prostatitis is a living hell. I got it four years ago. My symptom: when it flares up I can't pea, and back pain. I gained 50 lbs. in six months after I was diagnosed. I used to run every other day to keep in shape. But running with a full bladder and feeling like you have to urinate all the time and can't does not work. My doctors were the same as yours. My specialist checked my numbers to see if it was cancer first. It wasn't, so he put me on the dark angel (Cipro). That drug wrecked me. My organs felt like they were on fire and my hair started falling out. The drug did nothing for my symptoms. So they put me on a few more drugs with no results. Pretty much told me to man up and live with it. And my condition is chronic. So now I just wait for the lulls in between the flares to enjoy life. It is a shame they can not cure a thing the size of a small stone. I feel your pain bro.

It's just a brutal, brutal disease. 14 days into this bout and I'm fearing chronic has set in. I never had any urinary issues. Always, always pain/fullness in the penis, horrific testicular heaviness and burning backside. The genitile issues are just brutal, brutal, brutal. Most sensitive part of the body and this disease hits it hard. There's a side of me who wishes he could transfer these symptoms to the urologist for 5 minutes so he can actually feel the misery and not just hear about it. The sad part about my condition is nothing...I mean nothing even dents the symptoms. This thing has a mind of its own and I cannot diminish the inflammation. It just won't react to anything.

Post Re: My prostatitis story
Well, here I am day 22 and no relief. Went to urgent care to see if I could get some pain pills. He gave me 10 tramadol. Big deal. He also suggested Flomax which I'm in the middle of trying. I have ZERO urinary issues but I'm willing to try anything other than a pat on the shoulder and sent out the door with "feel better".

Doctor was worthless and had one foot out the door as I was explaining my history. No interest. What can I expect at a urgent care? Not much.

So I'm on Flomax, drinking pure cranberry juice and got 2 vitamins for prostate health...both from ProCaps Labs. One is prostate support and the other is cranberry benefits. Also trying warm baths.

I'm reluctant to go see a urologist simply out of I know what he's going to do...prescribe abx and send me out the door. I did 2 weeks of cipro already and I'm HIGHLY doubtful there is an infection. My symptoms are the same as 17 years ago. 6 months of abx did nothing and I'm not fond of long term abx.

Frustrating situation. Heavy testicles, burning backside, pain in penis and a sensation as if someone has rubbed my front and back with sandpaper. Raw, raw, raw sensation.

What's left to try?
No idea...other than praying.

Internal PT and stretching. Didn't see that on the list...can't say you've tried everything until you give that a go.
